It is a digital SIM card: it does the same as the plastic one, but it is downloaded to the phone with a QR code. With it you have internet at your destination without opening the phone or swapping cards.
Does my number keep working?
Yes. Your usual SIM stays in the phone, with your number for calls and texts. The travel eSIM only provides the internet, and WhatsApp keeps your number.
Can I make calls with the eSIM?
The eSIM is data only: it has no phone number. You can call over WhatsApp or any app that uses the internet.
When do I install it and when does it start counting?
Install it at home, on Wi-Fi, a few days before you leave. The plan starts counting when the eSIM first connects to a network in a country the plan covers, not when you buy it. If your own country is covered (a Europe plan while you are in Spain, say), keep the travel line switched off until you leave.
What does “unlimited data” mean?
That you do not run out of internet: there is no data amount that cuts the connection once it is used. What changes is the speed. Each day you get 1 or 2 GB at full speed, depending on the level, and if you use it up you stay connected more slowly until 24 hours have passed. Each destination shows it level by level before you buy.
